Why lamok work is mostly about water
A mosquito spends the first part of its life in standing water and it does not need much: a saucer under a plant pot, a blocked gutter, a drum with no lid, the tray under an aircon unit. Kill the adults flying tonight and the next batch is already in the water outside.
That is the reason a visit starts with a walk round the property rather than with a fogger. Emptying and treating the breeding sites is what changes the number of mosquitoes next week. Misting and fogging deal with the ones flying now, which is what makes the evening usable again.
Both matter. One without the other is why people say fogging never works.
From egg to biting adult in about a week
- 1Egg. Stuck to the inside wall of a container, just above the water.
- 2Larva. In the water. The “wigglers” you can see.
- 3Pupa. Still in the water, and does not eat.
- 4Adult. Flies off, but only a few blocks in its life.
7 to 10 days from the moment water covers the eggs.
Dry eggs wait. They survive drying out for up to 8 months and hatch when rain fills the container again, so a pot, drum or tyre that holds water for a week can already produce adults. The CDC’s advice is to empty and scrub, turn over, cover or throw out anything that holds water once a week.

How often should I get mosquito and fly treatment?
We recommend quarterly treatments for ongoing protection, or more frequently in high-risk areas.
Is your treatment safe for children and pets?
Not as a flat yes. Treatment goes on resting surfaces outdoors and into standing water that cannot be emptied; indoors it is limited to cracks and resting spots, as the US EPA, Citizen's Guide to Pest Control and Pesticide Safety advises. Food, dishes, pet bowls and toys are moved or covered first, people and pets stay out of the treated area during the work and until surfaces are dry and for the time the label states, which we tell you on the day, and windows are opened afterwards. If anyone, or a pet, touches or swallows a treated surface or a bait, follow the first aid on the label, wash skin with soap and water, and call a doctor or your vet with the product name.
Can you completely get rid of mosquitoes and flies?
While no service can 100% eliminate them (since they come from outside), our treatment significantly reduces populations and prevents breeding in your property.
